Estate Recovery: What it is and how to avoid it

Program by which the state tries to get payback for some of the benefits they have provided to you through paying for the nursing home, assisted living, or in-home care. The state can come back for any assets owned by the Medicaid recipient when they pass away, including property, and any funds may go to the state. To protect yourself from this, together, we can set up a nursing home protection trust or transfer home to the spouse that does not need care so the state of Ohio cannot put a lean on that property.
